Monday 5/30 Memorial Day Plans (Tuesday also)

I wrote this for yesterday and apparently never posted it. Happy Memorial day!  No floral delivieres today due to the holiday. Delivieres are tomorrow, Tuesday May 31st.  These delivieres are all delivered, around 3 pallets per store I believe. Asns were sent via email.  No garden delivieres today (Tuesday)  SUPER HOT TODAY. PLEASE FOCUS ON WATERING FIRST  Due to the late start of the garden weather, we are down a bit for the year overall. This weekend and holiday has been a big push to try to make up what we lost. The other major factor of this is the hanging basket sale. We do a similar sale every year. After the initial sale period, these hanging baskets don't sell quite as great. We need to focus on keeping promotion displays full, have plenty of signage for the items, and keep product at top quality to allow for the sales.  To do this keep to your basics -  Come in, bring racks to the front.  Uncover any racks with plastic  Check for wat...

Sunday 5/29 Plans

Good morning!  No delivieres today! It's a maintaining day! The weather is heating up. So expect to get back on the watering tasks.  Proven winners sale is OVER ! Please make sure that sale signs are removed first thing.  10 Flowering HB sale starts today! Make sure signage gets up on any of those displays or racks ASAP. These items do not sell as well after the sale. This is our best shot to get them in and out. Make sure they are on a main display, signed well and ready for the customers! We will have a lot of customers today and tomorrow likely due to the holiday (fingers crossed I mean). We want to get this stuff sold this weekend! Encourage those sales, mention it to customers if it's revelant. You don't ever need to be pushy but I always mention- "if you like this variety we have a sale on hanging baskets over here and I have some of those." Little things like that can help us make a difference. Bring it to the front and make sure it's organized looking ...

Saturday 5/28 plans

No major floral needs for today unless you are a designated floral person. Garden rack counts are as follows  Gahanna 114.  2  Lancaster 144. 2 Reynoldsburg 212. 3  Grove city 234. 2 Canal 246. 4 Today in garden is prep for memorial day weekend, there is going to be heavy customer service higher traffic. We should not be trying to dip out early today. Remember to always start with your basics, pull the rack out, take the plastic off, and then set your displays. The important things to know today, WE WILL BE GETTING 6 PACKS. This is going to be a major point in confusion in pricing, if they are not separated from 8 packs for today, unless you have a clear designated spot for 6 packs. I would keep the 6 packs on the rack, if you do take them off the rack, keep them away from the 8 packs or very clearly sign it. Next important thing to talk about is the 10.0 hanging baskets that have started coming in. As a reminder THESE ITEMS ARE GOING ON SALE TOMORROW! They are curre...

Friday 5/27 Plans

Good morning! It's Friday, which doesn't mean much to half of us here but whatever. Today is another rainy day which is going to cause us some issues.  For floral - many of you didn't end up getting your delivery yesterday because of a delayed shipment. I apologize about my original information being inaccurate, I was looking at the store ship schedule for garden without realizing it. Deliveries were small and should be easy to get out with most stores getting their work prep done yesterday. Thank you for getting in and getting started.  For garden - Today's rack counts are as follows  114 Gahanna 3 144 Lancaster 3 212 Reynoldsburg 2 234 Grove City 4 246 Canal Winchester 4 Like I mentioned, it is looking pretty rainy today. This is gonna mean that garden is going to be tough.  ETA: Once we hit 11am there is a chance of thunder and lightning, and if that happens then the garden center will be shut down. You should prioritize your outside product items first, and save ...

Thursday 5/26 Plans

Good morning everything. It's Thursday, and we are getting close to memorial day weekend.  Floral is getting pallets today, each store is getting one pallet. All stores are delivered. Remember what I texted about from my boss - the store that is consistently the most well taken care of throughout the month of June is going to be getting a $50 gift card directly from her. This means we need to be maintaining all of our watering, coming up with visually appealing displays, keeping our area tidy, and staying up to date with all of our pricing. Please also remember to remove any plastic from Orchids if you had not in the last week or so. This is a simple mistake coming out of Mother's Day, but sadly, we do not get the ability to do that all the time.  garden rack counts 114 2 144 2 212 3 234 6 246 5 Garden is looking a bit rainy today. Or maybe a lot rainy. This can affect our work today. It may mean that you cannot get very much done. This is going to depend heavily on how ...

Wednesday 5/25 plans

good morning everyone! Sorry for no post yesterday! I tried my best to reach out to anyone have who may needed any guidance. If you ever feel like you need extra help, give just me a call. Garden rack counts are as follows:  114 4  144 2  212 6  234 5  246 9 A couple things to point out -  On this delivery we will start to get in 10.0 Flowering Hanging Baskets. These are going to be our cheapest option on hanging baskets this year, and next week they will be going on sale for 2 for $14. Nate,  one of the higher ups has suggested we don’t go to much lengths to get this product out on trellises, instead focusing on trying to promote shopping these on racks, which will make sale signage easier as well. Our trellis space should be preserved for our nicer, more expensive hanging basket options. With that being said, it does not mean that the sale product cannot go out on a trellis if we think that space will benefit us, look better with the baskets, e...

Monday plans 5/23

Floral delivieres are all 2 pallets each- I would like a clear photo from each store of a fresh front table display, cleaned and signed, please.  Garden -  There is no garden delivery today, so today is a great day to play catch up on any racks that you may not have been able to work out over the weekend.  Outside of working old product and WATERING (rainy day yesterday and cooler temps so please make sure that we are doing our weight checks to make sure we aren't overwatering or underwatering), here is a list of things we should be doing:  Checking for toss : we have a lot of product in our stores. Do we have any remaining early spring product? I believe these are gone at all stores already but if they aren't they should be toss  - pansies (out of season)  -snapdragons (out of season)  - early spring bowls, calibroachia (white pot, $7.99) -cracked pots (save extra hangers)  -bad 8pks: broken, missing pods, etc. We can do swaps to make full packs ...

Sunday plans 5/22

Garden rack counts Gahanna 3 Lancaster 2 Reynoldsburg 2 Grove city 3 Canal Winchester 3 Reminder - Sundays are my day off. Please keep communication to a minimum. I may not respond today until late, and I typically only complete needed stuff, otherwise I try to separate from work life today.  Repost from yesterday  It’s been a stressful few days! I want to touch on a couple of things I may not have made clear to everyone.  1. We need to be making an active effort to check the labels on every item for sun or shade. I have not seen it often, but I have seen it happen where we are putting shade product in full sun. This is a major concern because it will give those items bruising, burns, and other unsightly issues. This causes increased toss and effects our profits and numbers overall. One item I’ve noticed is a problem is the SUNPATIENTS - these typically come in the $26.99 and $18.99 priced hanging baskets and patio planters, but it also comes in their own individual conta...

Saturday plans 5/21

Happy Saturday,  It’s been a stressful few days! One item I’ve noticed is a problem is the SUNPATIENTS - these typically come in the $26.99 and $18.99 priced hanging baskets and patio planters, but it also comes in their own individual containers (flats). Even though these are marked as shade, I have found overtime that they do not hold up well in full sun. Let me explain - Impatients are a popular shade flower. Basically a hybrid was made to be able to withstand more sun exposure, but we’ve found (from personal experience) that direc...

Friday plans 5/20

Good morning!  No floral needs today until you have something to finish from yesterday  Rack counts  114 5 144 7 212 4 234 1 246 11 Wide range of rack counts here. Most stores had a heavy rain this morning which should help a ton.  Remember to work front tables  back - if your front tables look good and are themed and we can just refill that's fine- but if we need to redo the display, that's also fine. You need to decide what is right after you take a look at the product and try to decide what can fit where  Big focus on pruning, condensing, and reorganizing today  Thunder and lightening means work inside, or clock out and take a break until it passes

THURSDAY PLANS BIG DAY BE GREAT PLEASE 5/19

Good morning!! It's 7am and I'm mustering all the positive energy this way so that we can do our best to IMPRESS THE BOSS LADY.  Floral - all stores already delivered  Pallet counts are as such  114 gahanna 3  144 Lancaster 2 212 Reynoldsburg 3 234 grove city 2 246 canal Winchester 3  Please note × today's floral delivery includes hibiscus and a bit more that needs separated from your inside stuff and taken outside. This is garden product that in managed through the floral budget. Floral, please assist garden if you can in getting these product out there. I sent an email informing stores but not everyone reads all the emails. Pallets may need separated in the back with a fork lift and then moved into the garden center on pallets.  Otherwise - try to make it your best work. Use wet floor signs, water everything first and well and then move onto building displays. Make sure to tidy up all displays and use accurate signage. Call me with any floral concerns, I ...

Wednesday 5/18 Plans!

Image
Wednesday plans!!  No floral needs for Wednesday.  Garden rack counts  Gahanna 6 Lancaster 6 Reynoldsburg 9 Grove City 10 Canal 10  My boss is touring stores tomorrow - please use extra time to make sure things look good, are well watered, signed, cleaned, and organized.  There is a chance of rain in the afternoon so try to get started early. Still prioritize watering in the morning despite possible rain. With the current heat trends, we will benefit from having an extra watering in the afternoon regardless.  We should be trying to build branded tables whenever possible. This means keep garden exclusives together, garden ex planters on the tables, garden ex hanging baskets, etc. All cool wave together, proven winners together, etc. Whenever possible.  My current trends for front sun tables is dipladinas, cool wave petunias and sun garden exclusives. Ill include a few examples below.  (144) Garden exclusives over garden exclusives, even...

Tuesday 5/17 plans

Hey all! Sorry for no post yesterday- Monday mornings are tough for me with the kids.  Floral - technically no deliveries today but a lot of deliveries had major delays today. I know most floral people will be doing their floral delivieres today. Hopefully you got yourself prepped yesterday to give yourself an easier day. Garden - we have garden delivieres all week. Tomorrow rack counts are as following  Gahanna 3 Lancaster 6 Canal Winchester 9 racks  Reynoldsburg 4 Grove City 3 Garden Temps are a bit cooler this week, which means it's a great week to work on the random projects, like pruning and deadheading, and cleaning. We should be making sure that product is getting thoroughly watered and being moved around daily to promote sales. If you notice an end cap has been the same for a week, it's a good time to change it. Move product, somehow it sells it. People may come in and not see it until you put it under their nose.  I am trying to focus heavily on getting addi...

Sunday 5/15 plans

There is no delivery today. There was a good rain in the evening on Saturday, so a lot of plants should have gotten a good dose of water. The heat from today's weather could dry that all fairly quickly so we still need to be actively checking all product for watering and still making sure that everything fills heavy. Please be mindful to check each area, and again, always check your front doors for other displays or racks that may need rotated and watered as well.  After watering, please condense and reorganize tables. As a reminder, id like this to be done from table to table. As people pick up items, we should be adjusting end caps to fill. When hanging baskets sell thru, we should be bringing forward hanging baskets from the second rung (if you have double hung baskets). The more our displays look clean, clear, and inviting - the faster we sell product.  Pruning - display to display. Pick off bad, dead yellowing or mushy blooms and leaves. Carrying a bag or bucket with you ...

Saturday 5/15 Plans

Garden delivery today, no need in floral except 114 Gahanna required floral hour, covered by Madison.  Gahanna 6 racks Lancaster 5 racks Reynoldsburg 6 Grove City 5  Canal Winchester 12 The BIGGEST ITEMS WE NEED TO WORK ON - WATERING - the weather changed dramatically. We need to change our watering dramatically. PRICING - signage needs to MOVE WITH THE PRODUCT. We are having a lot of issues across the board keeping our signage together. If you need more, make a list and give it to a manager! They can help you.  CLEANILNESS - we should be sweeping up after our messes, cleaning up tables, and trying to get product off the floor at first chance. I don't wanna bug everyone but I'm gonna keep beating this into your brains until I see overall improvement.  Look at it this way - much of this product can be totally wilted and toss worthy in a matter of ONE DAY of neglect. That means that ONE BAD DAY can ruin the overall sales of a good chunk of product. Don't let that...

Friday 5/13 plans

Hello! Friday the 13th! Hopefully that doesn't mean bad luck for us because in my opinion it's a lucky day, but I was born on the 13th so I might be bias.  Today we do not have any floral deliveries and I would expect that floral needs will be at a bare minimum. Unless you are a floral person finishing up your job from yesterday or you have been directly asked by me to check in on floral , there is no need to be in floral today.  For garden, we have a delivery. Each store is expecting anywhere from 6 to 9 racks. Rack counts will be listed below. Friday is a big day for us because we are prepping for the weekend. We will also have a large change to our priorities as the weather has shifted,  -Means that our watering needs have greatly increased. When you get into your store, the 1st thing that I would expect you to do is to pull your product to the front, get the plastic off of it, and arrange it so that customers may shop off the racks while you are working on getting Eve...

Wednesday 5/11 Plans

Good morning! Today we have a fairly larger delivery across our five stores.  Gahanna 6 racks Reynoldsburg 8 racks  Lancaster 8 racks  Grove city 12 racks  Canal Winchester 12 racks  First priority walking in - check for condensing. If a product is not utilitizing space well, we should replace it. For example, an end cap only holding three to four plants. We should move that and put on something new, fresh, with a high $$ amount.  Watch your toss, and encourage sales. I don't expect you to make sales, but if a customer is asking for something, take them to that item and speak positively about it.  Customer : do you have any begonias?  Ideal response : yes we, come look over here. We have these which are 4.99 per 8 packs, or we have these pretty baskets over here, or we even have these gallon buckets.  Finding and knowing the names of the plants is becoming ever important. If you don't know, try to ask someone close to you to help.  Also,...

Tuesday 5/10 Plans

Good morning! Day two into garden clean up week.  Two important notes -  Happy first day to Nathan at store 114 Gahanna 😊 And also a dear farewell to Dylan at 144 Lancaster, happy last day! Dylan accepted an amazing offer for a dream job. Proud of you!!  (P.s. I have not decided if I am going to replace Dylan's position. I would like to use this opening to help everyone else get their wanted and required hours. I will decide this at a later date. Thanks for your patience.)  There should be no work to be done in floral!! I will be checking out departments this week. We are back to regular Monday/Thursday schedule for floral delivieres.  Garden - rack counts  Grove city 4 racks  Canal Winchester 6 racks Lancaster 4 racks  Reynoldsburg 4 racks  Gahanna 4 racks  Today is more of the same from yesterday. We need to be working on getting garden centers to A+ status. I need to be seeing more condensing. This is a major need, especially while w...

Monday 5/9 Plans plus IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! I hope you’ve had a great one, regardless of if you worked or not.  Firstly, I have been working on this schedule in between tasks all day to try and get it finished. I apologize for the delay in your most accurate schedule. I will always try to do my best to have the schedule ready for you every week by Friday. This is when I get the schedule for delivery shipments, or I would try to do it sooner. I’m working on getting everyone set in their regular schedules as we get past the Mother’s Day craze. Thank you for understanding and for your patience.  As a whole, I’m very proud of everyone for the work done this past week. Everyone really came through and many of you went above and beyond to help. Even if I didn’t have the chance to directly say Thank you, here it is. We were the first team of my bosses supervisors to have all backstock out at every store on Saturday, and before noon, which is the corporate set GOAL. So great job floral team an...

Sunday 5/8 Plans (Mother's Day)

No deliveries today in floral or garden!  There is no specific work for garden or floral because those scheduled today will help in both.  Inside - check on mother's day displays. Condense, reorganize, and spread to fill if needed. Assist management in breaking down and moving product as needed to ensure that Mothers Day displays look their best. Also check for watering on floral displays. If something looks wilted or dry and it is a flowering type (excluding orchids - Google this if you aren't familiar because I cannot have you water my orchids accidentally) Garden - same as yesterday. No leaving early today, stores have plenty of work in pruning, dead heading, condensing, reorganizing, customer assistance, cleaning, etc. You should be reorganizing and condensing displays as they sell and then reevaluating through the day to see if we can continue to rearrange or get product off racks as the product sells through.  I am currently trying to work on the wcheduke but Mother...

Saturday 5/7 plans

Floral work - what you have now is all you've got! Work out remaining backstock to the floor by noon and let me KNOW ASAP when all backstock has been put out in the floral department. You should be condensing your fresh cuts, filling your cooler up, and getting everything else out onto tables. Including vases, bouquets, and any remaining bulbs, lillies, mums, etc. Roses do not need to be displayed in the cooler today. Utilize checkout lanes for your fresh cuts, keep potted to your main display, and leave extra buckets and vases in floral. Please do not display vases on your black tier rack displays, it's a recipe for disaster. I expect everyone to be condensing, check EVERYTHING for watering - I do not want anything to go dry over the weekend. Work with store management to get additional space if needed.  Garden work  Garden delivery today, but a smaller one for most stores.  Canal 8 racks Grove city 3 racks Lancaster 3 racks Gahanna 2 racks Reynoldsburg 3 racks  Tod...

FRIDAY 5/6/22 PLANS

Mother's day is approaching!  Floral - this is the easiest but likely trickiest day of the week. Most of our delivery today is fresh cuts. So work out the rest of your potted backstock, and then FILL YOUR COOLER TO THE BRIM WITH ROSES. Keep encore roses exclusively to the cooler. These are the $18.99 dozen packs we normally get. They may be a bit more expensive for the holiday so don't forget to check your prices. Then put mixed with roses, mixed, and bunches by your checklanes (if space is provided) if you have anything else in your cooler (pushy willow trees/ branches / lavender / wheat) take it out for roses. I expect every floral worker to give me a call today so we can discuss your specific plans. I will call anyone who is normally Garden but needs to assist in floral a call- so please expect to hear from me.  Gahanna 114 5 pallets Lancaster 144 2 pallets Reynoldsburg 212 4 pallets  Grove city 234 2 pallets  Canal 246 4 pallets  Also I NEED to turn in TWO C...

Thursday 5/4 Plans

Today in floral - should be minimal need in floral today unless previously discussed.  Today in garden - another delivery!  246 Canal Winchester 9 racks  144 Lancaster 8 racks 212 Reynoldsburg 5 racks 234 Grove City 7 racks 114 Gahanna 7 racks  /add more in the AM, im tired/

Wednesday 5/4/22 Plans

Garden delivery 246 Canal Winchester 6 234 Grove City 4 212 Reynoldsburg 5 114 Gahanna 3 144 Lancaster 5 checklist has been added for the garden delivery page - it's not totally done but helpful if you need it. Garden is going to feel pretty full at this point. It's always good to take a look at the bigger picture. Sometimes, to get things to fit, you might have to make the triangle moves. Move one product to here to make space here to put this there. It's not always an easy - where's space? It's more like - where should I put this logically, and what can I move to make that happen? When you are merchandising on racks - consider the location. Is this rack around product that makes sense? Or are we just putting it wherever? Do we have product hung up? Are the greenhouses shoppable? Is like product over like product? Are we using our planogrammed spaces? Have we condensed everything to make more space? During this time, when you are wishing that I was there - don'...

Tuesday 5/3 plans

Garden delivery today! It's rainy so remember to use the rain to your advantage but do not completely rely on it. We should still be doing our best to make sure that we are checking our product and filling in the gaps of what may have not gotten fully watered.  Garden delivery-  234 grove city 6 racks  246 canal Winchester 10 racks 212 Reynoldsburg 7 racks  144 Lancaster 8 racks  114 gahanna 6 racks  At time of posting, all but Gahanna and Reynoldsburg have been delivered. Both stores should be in and delivered by noon.  I need someone from every single store to text me with a confirmation PHOTO that sale signage is up for required product. Please reference yesterday's post to confirm the items. There should be 4 different items on sale.  Build big beautiful displays. We want to get the attention of the customers.  We work in the rain unless there is thunder or lightening. If you are concerned, please call me.

Monday 5/2 plans

Happy Monday! I'm going to be honest. This is going to be a tough week. Deliveries should be on time but may not always be. I am going to schedule you regardless of delivieres to stay on top of product. We can make small adjustments here and there as needed. This is the best week to call me instead of texting me with any urgent or concerning questions. This week, please check with me before leaving your store early.  In floral - all five stores have a 3 pallet delivery. We need to work on cleaning up our displays, making it large and visually appealing, and saving our table space for the smaller gift product that doesn't look as good on the large displays. We need to focus on our watering, as dry product will likely not sell. People get really serious about their moms. We need to make sure we are doing our best to keep product looking good and signed. This is a stressful week for floral. You will have a lot of product and feel like you have too much. This is why we allow backst...
