Wednesday 5/25 plans

good morning everyone! Sorry for no post yesterday! I tried my best to reach out to anyone have who may needed any guidance. If you ever feel like you need extra help, give just me a call.

Garden rack counts are as follows:

114 4

144 2

212 6

234 5

246 9

A couple things to point out -

On this delivery we will start to get in 10.0 Flowering Hanging Baskets. These are going to be our cheapest option on hanging baskets this year, and next week they will be going on sale for 2 for $14. Nate,  one of the higher ups has suggested we don’t go to much lengths to get this product out on trellises, instead focusing on trying to promote shopping these on racks, which will make sale signage easier as well. Our trellis space should be preserved for our nicer, more expensive hanging basket options. With that being said, it does not mean that the sale product cannot go out on a trellis if we think that space will benefit us, look better with the baskets, etc. We should try to manage this on a case by case basis, so I would prefer it be ran by me if possible.

Secondly, I have confirmed with every store, so no need to stress, but continue to make sure that the sale signage on the proven winners looks good and stays up. The 4.5 pots of proven winners that are regularly $5.99 are on sale until end of day Saturday, 2 for $9. This is a pretty decent sale for PW and has been advertised. We need to be staying on top of our PW product to keep product pruned, condensed, and organized.

I would also like to see a change in our behaviors cleaning wise. I think some stores have done at great job at keeping up with sweeping and tidying, but not all. I would like to see more people going out of their way to tidy up their areas so we can keep a clean garden center, at least in our managed areas.

We have a couple of rainier days coming up. Check the radar in your area and use the rain to your advantage if you can, maybe prioritize the outside work during the drier times and keep yourself busy in the greenhouse during the rainy part of the day.

Otherwise, continue doing the main thing - pull racks to the front, uncover from plastic. Get watering done early, and organize more later on. I have found that we sometimes seem to be waiting until later in the day to be doing our watering, and that leaves us in a bad position where everyone is ready to leave, and the watering may not be getting done fully because our heads are already clocked out. Please prioritize your watering over everything else.

Please remember that garden centers are open on Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day. This one of the last big planting weekends for people, and we need to be working our full hours and supporting the Meijer garden center crews and working to make everything look it’s best - which means more sales. The company is down overall due to the bad weather in the beginning of the season, and this is one of the last big pushes to try to make up the numbers.
